CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH
DTC B1620/21 Side Airbag Sensor Assembly RH Circuit Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
The side airbag sensor assembly RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.If the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether or not the SRS should be activated.DTC B1620/21 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor assembly RH circuit.DTC No.
| DTC Detecting Condition
| Trouble Area
|
B1620/21
| - The center airbag sensor assembly receives a line short circuit signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the side airbag sensor assembly assembly RH circuit for 2 seconds.
- Side airbag sensor assembly RH malfunction
- Center airbag sensor assembly malfunction
| - Floor wire
- Side airbag sensor assembly RH

- OK:
- DTC B1620/21 is not output.
- HINT:
- Codes other than DTC B1620/21 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
| USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK |
|
|
2.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS |
Turn the engine switch off.
Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the side airbag sensor assembly RH.
- OK:
- The connectors are connected.
| CONNECT CONNECTORS, THEN GO TO STEP 1 |
|
|
3.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN) |
Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the side airbag sensor assembly RH.
Vsing a service wire, connect V13-19 (VUPR) and V13-21 (ESR) of connector "B".
- NOTICE:
- Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Resistance:
Tester connection
| Condition
| Specified condition
|
V5-2 (VUPR) - V5-1 (ESR)
| Always
| Below 1 Ω
|
| REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE |
|
|
4.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT) |
Disconnect the service wire from connector "B".
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Resistance:
Tester connection
| Condition
| Specified condition
|
V5-2 (VUPR) - V5-1 (ESR)
| Always
| 1 MΩ or higher
|
| REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE |
|
|
5.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO B+) |
Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Voltage:
Tester connection
| Condition
| Specified condition
|
V5-2 (VUPR) - Body ground
| Engine switch on (IG)
| Below 1 V
|
V5-1 (ESR) - Body ground
| Engine switch on (IG)
| Below 1 V
|
| REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE |
|
|
6.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND) |
Turn the engine switch off.
Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Resistance:
Tester connection
| Condition
| Specified condition
|
V5-2 (VUPR) - Body ground
| Always
| 1 MΩ or higher
|
V5-1 (ESR) - Body ground
| Always
| 1 MΩ or higher
|
| REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE |
|
|
7.CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH |
Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly.
Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Clear the DTCs stored in memory (Click here).
