DESCRIPTION

The ECM activates the DC motor for Swirl Control Valve (SCV), which opens and closes SCV. The ECM activates the DC motor based on engine rpm, coolant temperature, engine load signals and other conditions. When the voltage of the DC motor deviates from the standard range, the ECM determines that a malfunction has occurred and outputs a DTC.

(a) DC motor for SCV output duty is 100 %
(b) DC motor for SCV current is less than 0.35 A

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.INSPECT INTAKE MANIFOLD (DC MOTOR FOR SCV OPERATION)

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - DC MOTOR FOR SCV)

  1. Disconnect the E64 DC motor for SCV connector.

  1. Disconnect the E45 ECM connector.

  1. Measure the resistance.

    Standard resistance (Check for open):
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    IA1- (E45-1) - E64-2
    Below 1 Ω
    IA1+ (E45-2) - E64-1
    Below 1 Ω
    Standard resistance (Check for short):
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    IA1- (E45-1) or E64-2 - Body ground
    10 kΩ or higher
    IA1+ (E45-2) or E64-1 - body ground
    10 kΩ or higher
  1. Reconnect the ECM connector.

  1. Reconnect the DC motor for SCV connector.

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

3.CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2009 OR P2010)
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

  1. Turn the tester ON.

  1. Clear DTCs.

  1. Enter the following menus: Power train / Engine / DTC.

  1. Read DTCs.

    Result:
