Steering Pad Switch Removal
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER
REMOVE NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER
REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD
REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH LH
REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH RH
Steering Pad Switch -- Removal |
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER |
Using a screwdriver, remove the steering wheel No.2 cover lower.
- HINT:
- Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
3. REMOVE NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER |
Using a screwdriver, remove the steering wheel No.3 cover lower.
- HINT:
- Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD |
Using a "torx" socket wrench (T30), loosen the 2 "torx" screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.
Pull out the steering pad from the steering wheel assembly and support the steering pad with one hand as shown in the illustration.
- NOTICE:
- When removing the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
Disconnect the horn connector.
Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the steering pad.
- NOTICE:
- When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH LH |
Disconnect the connectors.
Remove the screw.
Detach the clip and 2 claws and remove the switch.
Disconnect the steering pad switch cable's tab from the switch, as shown in the illustration.
Detach the 2 claws and raise the connector cover.
Hold the connector cover and disconnect the switch from the steering pad switch cable.
- NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the switch, do not pull the switch's wire harness.
6. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH RH |
Remove the screw.
Detach the clip and 2 claws, and remove the switch.
Disconnect the steering pad switch cable's tab from the switch, as shown in the illustration.
Detach the 2 claws and raise the connector cover.
Hold the connector cover and disconnect the switch from the steering pad switch cable.
- NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the switch, do not pull the switch's wire harness.
