Automatic Transmission Assembly -- Removal |
| 1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
| 2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER |
| 3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER NO.2 |
| 4. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY |
| 5. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE NO.1 SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 2 bolts and exhaust pipe No.1 support bracket sub-assembly.
 |
| 6. REMOVE PROPELLER W/CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY |
| 7. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID |
Remove the drain plug, the gasket , and drain the ATF.
 |
Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
- Torque:
- 20 N*m{205 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf}
| 8. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER AIR GUIDE BRACKET |
Remove the 2 bolts and engine under cover air guide bracket.
 |
| 9. SEPARATE OIL COOLER INLET TUBE NO.1 |
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 clamps.
Loosen the union nut and separate the oil cooler inlet tube No.1.
 |
| 10. REMOVE OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE NO.1 |
Loosen the union nut and separate the oil cooler outlet tube No.1.
 |
| 11. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Remove the nut and separate the floor shift gear shifting rod.
 |
| 12. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY |
Support the automatic transmission with a transmission jack.
 |
| 13. REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING MEMBER |
Remove the 4 bolts and separate the engine rear mounting member.
 |
Remove the 4 nuts and engine rear mounting member.
 |
| 14. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTORS |
Tilt down the automatic transmission.
- NOTICE:
- Take care so that the cooling fan does not come into contact with the fan shroud.
 |
Remove the 5 bolts and wire harness clamps.
- HINT:
- Bolt (A) is tightened to the transmission housing.
 |
Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
Disconnect the 2 speed sensor connectors.
Separate the wire harness from the automatic transmission.
| 15. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER |
Remove the 2 bolts and flywheel housing under cover.
 |
| 16. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY |
Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt.
 |
Hold the crankshaft pulley nut with a wrench and remove the 6 bolts.
Remove the 9 bolts.
 |
Separate and remove the automatic transmission.
| 17. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR REAR NO.1 |
Remove the 4 bolts and engine mounting insulator rear No.1.
 |
| 18. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH |
Remove the nut and transmission control shaft lever RH.
 |
| 19. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY |
Put matchmarks on the transmission case and torque converter clutch.
 |
Remove the torque converter clutch from the automatic transmission.
