DTC P205B Reductant Tank Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

DESCRIPTION

Refer to DTC P202B (LandCruiser RM000005UUE000X_01.html).

DTC Detection Drive Pattern
DTC Detection Condition
Trouble Area
After the engine has soaked for an appropriate length of time, start the engine and idle it for 4 seconds or more.
After the system has soaked for an appropriate length of time after the previous trip (while the engine coolant temperature has not yet increased after the engine has started), the temperature difference between the engine coolant and the urea solution (absolute value) is equal to or greater than a fixed value for 4 seconds or more.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Handling the urea injector set
  1. The urea injector set is a precision instrument. Take necessary precautions for installation and shipping. Do not use the part if it has been struck or dropped.
  2. If the urea solution remaining inside the urea injector set dries out, it may become unable to inject urea solution. Therefore, conduct urea tube with heater assembly installation and removal quickly.
  3. If the urea solution dries out and deposition occurs, urea may cling to the O-ring of the pipe and cause seal problems. Therefore, clean the urea tube with heater assembly and intake port of the urea injector set with water before attaching them.
  4. Perform this procedure in an environment where urea solution will not freeze.
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK DTC OUTPUT
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

  1. Read the DTCs.

    HINT:
If any other DTCs (CAN communication malfunctions or open/short circuits) are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.

2.CHECK AROUND BOTTOM OF VEHICLE
  1. Check around the bottom of the vehicle.

    HINT:
If the urea solution dries on an object, deposition occurs and leaves behind a white powder.
    Area to check:
    1. Areas connecting the urea pump and urea injector set.
    2. Perforations in the urea tank sub-assembly.
    3. Connectors not connected properly.
    4. Clogging of the cooling fins of the urea injector set.
      HINT:
If the cooling fins are clogged with foreign matter, remove the foreign matter and clean the cooling fins.
  1. Repair any trouble areas.

3.READ VALUE USING GTS (REDUCTANT TEMPERATURE)
  1. Prepare a bucket or other receptacle for collecting urea solution.

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Reductant Pump Check (Backward).

  1. Perform the Active Test.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Reductant Purge.

  1. Perform the Active Test.

    HINT:
Perform the Reductant Purge to draw the urea solution back into the urea tank sub-assembly from the urea injector set.
  1. After performing the Active Test, remove the urea injector set from the front exhaust pipe assembly.

    NOTICE:
If the urea solution remaining inside the urea injector set dries out, it may become unable to inject urea solution. Therefore, seal the urea injector set with an item such as a cover or rubber cap so that the inside does not dry out.
  1. Prepare a bucket or other receptacle for collecting urea solution from the urea tube with heater assembly.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Reductant Discharge.

  1. Perform the Active Test.

  1. According to the display on the GTS, perform the Active Test.

    NOTICE:
When the Active Test is executed, urea solution will come out of the urea tube with heater assembly. Collect the urea solution with a bucket or other receptacle.
  1. After completing the Active Test, refill approximately 1 L of urea solution.

    HINT:
Check the temperature of the urea solution to be used for refilling.
  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Reductant Temperature.

  1. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

    OK:
Within +/-5°C (9°F) of urea solution used for refilling.

4.REPLACE UREA PUMP
  1. Replace the urea pump (LandCruiser RM000005UL0000X.html).

5.CHECK CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED
  1. Stop the engine and allow it to soak.

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  1. Clear the DTCs (LandCruiser RM000000PDK1E5X.html).

  1. Turn the engine switch off for 30 seconds or more.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

  1. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
