Heater Assembly Removal


  1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

  2. REMOVE HEATER AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 HEATER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE HEATER BRACKET

Heater Assembly -- Removal



1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
CAUTION:
Do not remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly, vent plug, radiator drain cock plug while the engine and radiator assembly are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.

  1. Connect a vinyl tube with an inside diameter of 9 mm (0.354 in.) to the radiator drain cock as shown in the illustration.



  1. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.

  1. Remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly.

  1. Using a wrench, remove the vent plug and drain the engine coolant from the radiator assembly.

    HINT:
    Collect the engine coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the local regulations.
  1. Loosen the cylinder block water drain cock plug and drain the engine coolant from the engine.

  1. Tighten the cylinder block water drain cock plug.

    Torque:
    13 N*m{130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf}
  1. Tighten the radiator drain cock plug by hand.

  1. Remove the vinyl tube from the radiator drain cock.



2. REMOVE HEATER AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY


  1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clips and slide the clip to disconnect the No. 1 heater fuel hose.

  1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clips and slide each clip to disconnect the hose.

    NOTICE:
    1. Do not apply excessive force to the hose.
    2. Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  1. Disconnect the connector.



  1. Remove the bolt and nut and heater and accessory assembly.

3. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
  1. Remove the exhaust pipe sub-assembly (LandCruiser RM000005TNB000X.html).



4. REMOVE NO. 1 HEATER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
  1. Detach the clamp and disconnect the wire harness.



  1. Remove the 3 nuts and No. 1 heater bracket sub-assembly.

5. REMOVE HEATER BRACKET

  1. Remove the bolt.

  1. Detach the guide and remove the heater bracket.
