CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIESEL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY - ECM)

REPLACE ECM

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

CHECK CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

DTC P2142 Diesel Throttle Motor Circuit High


DESCRIPTION

The throttle actuator is operated by the ECM and opens and closes the throttle valve using gears. The opening angle of the throttle valve is detected by the throttle position sensor, which is mounted on the diesel throttle body assembly.

Trouble Area
Idle the engine for 5 seconds or more
Both of the following conditions are met for 2.0 seconds (1 trip detection logic):
(1 trip detection logic)
  1. The throttle actuator duty cycle is 80% or higher.
  2. The throttle actuator current is less than 0.5 A.
  1. Open or short in throttle actuator circuit
  2. Diesel throttle body assembly
  3. ECM

Idle the engine for 5 seconds or more
A throttle actuator current of 8 A or higher or the ECM internal circuit temperature of 150 to 160°C (302 to 320°F) or higher is detected.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (LandCruiser RM0000012XK0AUX.html) and initialization (LandCruiser RM000000TIN08HX.html).
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.INSPECT DIESEL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY (RESISTANCE OF THROTTLE ACTUATOR)

  1. Inspect the diesel throttle body assembly (LandCruiser RM0000046KP01IX_01_0001.html).

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIESEL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY - ECM)

  1. Disconnect the diesel throttle body assembly connector.

  1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:

  1. Reconnect the diesel throttle body assembly connector.

3.REPLACE ECM

  1. Replace the ECM (LandCruiser RM0000013Z002DX.html).

4.REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  1. Repair or replace the harness or connector.

5.CHECK CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  1. Clear the DTCs (LandCruiser RM000000PDK1E5X.html).

  1. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 30 seconds.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Idle the engine for 5 seconds or more.

  1. Turn the GTS on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

  1. Confirm that the DTC is not output.
