Back Window Stay -- Installation |
- NOTICE:
- Avoid touching the stroke portion of the rod as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from adhering to it. Be sure to hold the cylinders while performing work.
- Do not wear cotton gloves or other similar materials when handling the rod. Fibers may attach to the rod and result in gas leaks.
- Do not apply any load to the cylinders in the horizontal direction in order to prevent the rod from being deformed.
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
- The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
1. INSTALL BACK DOOR STAY BOLT |
When replacing the back door stay bolt with a new one:
Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with non-residue solvent.
Install the back door stay bolt.
- Torque:
- 22 N*m{224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf}
When reusing the back door stay bolt:
Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with non-residue solvent.
Apply adhesive to the threads of the back door stay bolt.
- Adhesive:
- Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
Install the back door stay bolt.
- Torque:
- 22 N*m{224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf}
2. INSTALL BACK WINDOW STAY ASSEMBLY LH |
Install the 2 stop rings to the back door stay assembly.
Install the back window stay assembly.
- CAUTION:
- Install the back window stay while supporting the back door glass by hand.

Check that the back window stay is attached to the ball joint and cannot be pulled off.
