DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for Cold Area Specification Vehicles)
REMOVE NO. 3 ENGINE WIRE (for Cold Area Specification Vehicles)

1. PRECAUTION (for Cold Area Specification Vehicles) |
- NOTICE:
- After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (LandCruiser RM000003YMD00TX.html).
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for Cold Area Specification Vehicles) |
- NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (LandCruiser RM000003YMF011X.html).
3. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL |
Remove the 13 clips and upper radiator support seal.
4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 4 bolts and No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly.

5. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT |
- CAUTION:
- Do not remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly, vent plug, radiator drain cock plug while the engine and radiator assembly are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.
Connect a vinyl tube with an inside diameter of 9 mm (0.354 in.) to the radiator drain cock as shown in the illustration.

Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.

Remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly.
Using a wrench, remove the vent plug and drain the engine coolant from the radiator assembly.
- HINT:
- Collect the engine coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the local regulations.
Loosen the cylinder block water drain cock plug and drain the engine coolant from the engine.
Tighten the cylinder block water drain cock plug.
- Torque:
- 13 N*m{130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf}
Tighten the radiator drain cock plug by hand.
Remove the vinyl tube from the radiator drain cock.
6. REMOVE NO. 3 ENGINE WIRE (for Cold Area Specification Vehicles) |
Disconnect 2 cables from 2 positive battery terminals.

Detach the 3 wire harness clamps to disconnect the No. 3 engine wire from the fan shroud.
7. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE |
Slide the 2 hose clamps and remove the No. 1 radiator hose.

8. REMOVE NO. 2 INTERCOOLER AIR HOSE |

Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the oil return hose.
Loosen the 2 hose clamps and remove the No. 2 intercooler air hose.
9. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE |
Slide the 2 hose clamps and remove the No. 2 radiator hose.

10. REMOVE INTERCOOLER AIR HOSE |
Loosen the 2 hose bands and remove the intercooler air hose.

11. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY |
Detach the 2 clamps to disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose from the fan shroud.

Slide the hose clamp and disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose from the water inlet.
Slide the hose clamp and disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose from the radiator assembly.

Detach the 2 clamps to disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose from the fan shroud.
Remove the 3 bolts and radiator reservoir assembly.
12. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER HOSE (for Automatic Transmission) |
Remove the bolt and detach the 2 clamps to disconnect the oil cooler hose from the fan shroud.

Slide the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the oil cooler hose from radiator assembly.
13. REMOVE VISCOUS HEATER V BELT (w/ Viscous Heater) |
Loosen the 2 bolts.

Turn the bolt to loosen the viscous heater V belt and reduce the tension. Then remove the viscous heater V belt.

14. REMOVE FAN SHROUD |
Loosen the 4 nuts holding the fan with fluid coupling assembly.

Remove the fan and generator V belt (LandCruiser RM00000122Y00LX_01_0004.html).
Remove the 2 bolts holding the fan shroud.

Slide the fan shroud in upper side to detach the guide and remove the fan shroud together with the fan with fluid coupling assembly.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the radiator core.
Remove the fan pulley.
15. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER LOWER COVER |
Remove the clip, 5 bolts and front bumper lower cover.
16. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER |
17. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER UPPER RETAINER |
Remove the 3 bolts and front bumper upper retainer.

18. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR RH |
Detach the 3 claws and remove the clip and radiator side deflector RH.

19. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR LH |
Detach the 3 claws and remove the clip and radiator side deflector LH.

20. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 4 bolts and radiator assembly.

21. REMOVE NO. 3 RADIATOR TO SUPPORT SEAL |
Remove the No. 3 radiator to support seal from the No. 1 radiator air guide.

22. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR AIR GUIDE |
Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 radiator air guide.

23. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIATOR TO SUPPORT SEAL |
Remove the 2 No. 2 radiator to support seals from the intercooler.

24. REMOVE INTERCOOLER ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the vacuum hose from the intercooler.

Remove the 4 bolts and intercooler from the radiator.
25. REMOVE OIL RETURN PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Detach the 2 clamps to remove the oil return pipe sub-assembly from the radiator assembly.
26. REMOVE RADIATOR COLLAR |
Remove the 4 radiator collar from the radiator assembly.
27. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIATOR SUPPORT BUSH |
Remove the 2 No. 2 radiator support bushes from the radiator assembly.
28. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR SUPPORT BUSH |
Remove the 6 No. 1 radiator support bushes from the radiator assembly.
