Seat Belt Warning System -- System Description


HINT:
The front seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly blinks or turns off in accordance with whether the front passenger seat is occupied, the front passenger side seat belt state or vehicle speed.

SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
If a seat belt is not fastened, this system flashes the seat belt warning light or sounds the seat belt warning buzzer as a reminder.

  1. Driver side seat belt warning light:
    When the driver side seat belt is not fastened with the ignition switch ON, the front seat belt warning light in the combination meter blinks to inform the driver. The center airbag sensor detects the driver side seat belt status and sends signals to the combination meter using the CAN.

  2. Front passenger side seat belt warning light:
    The front seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly blinks or turns off in accordance with whether the front passenger seat is occupied, the front passenger side seat belt state or vehicle speed.

  3. Seat belt warning buzzer:
    When the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) while the driver or front passenger side seat belt is unfastened, the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 9.6 seconds*1 or 30 seconds*2. After that, the buzzer sounds at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 20 seconds*1 or 90 seconds*2.

FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT
The following functions are available.

Informs the center airbag sensor of the driver side seat belt condition (fastened or unfastened).
Front seat inner belt RH*1, LH*2 (front passenger side buckle switch)
Informs the combination meter of the front passenger side seat belt condition (fastened or unfastened).
Occupant detection sensor
Informs the combination meter of the front passenger seat condition (occupied or unoccupied).
Front seat belt warning light
  1. If the driver side seat belt is unfastened and the ignition switch is ON, the combination meter flashes the seat belt warning light in the combination meter as a reminder.
  2. When the front passenger seat is occupied and the ignition switch is ON, if the front passenger side seat belt is unfastened, the combination meter flashes the front passenger side seat belt warning light in the combination meter as a reminder.
Seat belt warning buzzer
If the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more with either of the following conditions met, the combination meter sounds the buzzer as a reminder: 1) the driver side seat belt is unfastened, or 2) the front passenger side seat belt is unfastened with the front passenger seat occupied.
