Vacuum Pump (For 1Gd-Ftv) Installation


  1. INSTALL VACUUM PUMP UNION

  2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL RETAINER

  3. INSTALL VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY

  4. CONNECT NO. 1 VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE

  5. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY TO ENGINE STAND

  6. INSTALL ENGINE ASSEMBLY

  7. INSPECT VACUUM PUMP OPERATION

Vacuum Pump (For 1Gd-Ftv) -- Installation



1. INSTALL VACUUM PUMP UNION


    Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado. Grj150 Trj150,155 Kdj150,155 Lj150, Gdj150,155
  1. Install the 2 new gaskets and the vacuum pump union with the union bolt.

    Torque:
    14 N*m{140 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf}
    HINT:
    Check that the stopper of the vacuum pump union with union is securely held on the vacuum pump assembly.


2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL RETAINER
NOTICE:
If the camshaft oil seal retainer is dropped, replace it with a new one.
  1. Before installing a new camshaft oil seal retainer, clean the installation surface of the No. 3 camshaft bearing cap and cylinder head sub-assembly and remove any foreign matter.

  1. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new camshaft oil seal retainer to the No. 3 camshaft bearing cap and cylinder head sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

3. INSTALL VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY


  1. When using new vacuum pump assembly:



      Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado. Grj150 Trj150,155 Kdj150,155 Lj150, Gdj150,155
    1. Apply engine oil to the No. 2 and No. 3 O-rings installed in a new vacuum pump assembly.

  1. When reusing vacuum pump assembly:

    1. Install a new No. 2 and No. 3 O-rings to the vacuum pump assembly.



    2. Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado. Grj150 Trj150,155 Kdj150,155 Lj150, Gdj150,155
    3. Apply engine oil to the No. 2 and No. 3 O-rings installed in a new vacuum pump assembly.

  1. Install the vacuum pump assembly so that the oil pipe engages with the hole of the camshaft and the coupling teeth with the grooves on the camshaft tip.

    NOTICE:
    1. Ensure that the vacuum pump assembly is installed securely.
    2. Be careful not to pinch the O-ring.
  1. Install the vacuum pump assembly with the 3 bolts.

    Torque:
    21 N*m{214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf}
    NOTICE:
    After installation, check that there are no gaps between the matching surfaces and that the vacuum pump assembly is not installed at an angle.


4. CONNECT NO. 1 VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE
  1. Connect the No. 1 vacuum transmitting hose to the vacuum pump assembly.



5. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY TO ENGINE STAND
NOTICE:
  1. Pay attention to the angle of the sling device as the engine assembly or engine hangers may be damaged or deformed if the angle is incorrect.
  2. With the exception of installing the engine assembly to an engine stand or removing the engine assembly from an engine stand, do not perform any work on the engine assembly while it is suspended, as doing so is dangerous.
  1. Attach the engine sling device and hang the engine assembly with the chain block.

  1. Remove the engine assembly from the engine stand.



6. INSTALL ENGINE ASSEMBLY

7. INSPECT VACUUM PUMP OPERATION
  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum pump.

  1. Connect the hose of the vacuum gauge to the vacuum pump.

  1. Start the engine and warm it up for more than 2 minutes.

  1. With the engine idling, check the negative pressure of the vacuum pump.

    Standard pressure:
    Higher than 87 kPa (650 mmHg, 25.6 in.Hg)
    HINT:
    It is necessary to replace the vacuum pump every 200000 km (124000 miles).
  1. Remove the vacuum gauge from the vacuum pump.

  1. Connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum pump.
