Pre-Heating System On-Vehicle Inspection
INSPECT ILLUMINATION DURATION OF GLOW INDICATOR LIGHT
INSPECT PRE-HEATING
INSPECT AFTER GLOW TIME
Pre-Heating System -- On-Vehicle Inspection |
- NOTICE:
- Turn the ignition switch off for 60 seconds before performing the following inspections.
1. INSPECT ILLUMINATION DURATION OF GLOW INDICATOR LIGHT |
Turn the ignition switch to ON and measure the length of time that the light remains illuminated.
- Light illumination duration:
- Refer to the graph
Text in Illustration*a
| Glow Indicator Lighting Time
|
*b
| Engine Coolant Temperature
|
If the result is not as specified, check the ECM, engine coolant temperature sensor, glow plugs and glow plug relay.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and measure the length of time that battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.
- Standard Pre-heating Time :
Engine Coolant Temperature
| Specified Condition
|
40°C (104°F) or higher
| 1 sec.
|
40°C (104°F) below
| Refer to graph*1 (15 sec. at longest)

| Battery Voltage
|
- *1: The pre-heating time changes depending on the battery voltage.
If the result is not as specified, check the ECM, engine coolant temperature sensor, glow plugs and glow plug relay.
3. INSPECT AFTER GLOW TIME |
After starting the engine starting, measure the time that battery voltage is applied to the terminal GREL of the ECM.
- After glow time:
- Refer to the graph
