Sfi System -- Diagnosis System

EURO-OBD (EUROPE)
  1. When troubleshooting Europe On-Board Diagnostic (Euro-OBD) vehicles, the vehicle must be connected to an OBD scan tool (complying with ISO 15765-4). Various data output from the vehicle's ECM can then be read.

  2. Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado. Grj150 Trj150,155 Kdj150,155 Lj150, Gdj150,155.2Tr-Fe Engine Control.Sfi System.Sfi System Diagnosis System
  3. Euro-OBD regulations require that the vehicle's on-board computer illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument panel when the computer detects a malfunction in:

    1. The emission control system/components.

    2. The powertrain control components (which affect vehicle emissions).

    3. ECM.

  4. In addition, the applicable Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) prescribed by ISO 15765-4 are recorded in the ECM memory. If the malfunction does not reoccur in 3 consecutive trips, the MIL goes off automatically but the DTCs remain recorded in the ECM memory.

  5. To check DTCs, connect the GTS to the Data link Connector 3 (DLC3) of the vehicle.
The scan tool displays DTCs, the freeze frame data and a variety of the engine data.
The DTCs and freeze frame data can be erased with the scan tool (LandCruiser RM000000VNG00DX.html).

NORMAL MODE AND CHECK MODE
The diagnosis system operates in "normal mode" during normal vehicle use. In normal mode, "2 trip detection logic" is used to ensure accurate detection of malfunctions. "Check mode" is also available to technicians as an option. In check mode, "1 trip detection logic" is used for duplicating malfunction symptoms and increasing the system's ability to detect malfunctions, including intermittent malfunctions (LandCruiser RM000000VNH00AX.html).

2 TRIP DETECTION LOGIC
When a malfunction is first detected, the malfunction is temporarily stored in the ECM memory (1st trip). If the same malfunction is detected during the next subsequent drive cycle, the MIL illuminates (2nd trip).

FREEZE FRAME DATA
  1. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was moving or stationary, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.

DLC3 (Data Link Connector 3)
  1. Check the DLC3 (LandCruiser RM000003YMH00MX.html).

INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE
If voltage is below 11 V, replace the battery before proceeding.
Battery Voltage:
11 to 14 V

CHECK MIL
  1. Check that the MIL illuminates when turning the ignition switch to ON.
If the MIL does not illuminate, there is a problem in the MIL circuit (LandCruiser RM000000WZ11AGX.html).

  2. When the engine is started, the MIL should go off.

ALL READINESS
ALL READINESS
HINT:
  1. With "All Readiness" you can check whether or not the DTC judgment has been completed by using the GTS.
  2. You should check "All Readiness" after duplicating malfunction symptoms or for validation after finishing repairs.
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  3. Turn the GTS on.

  4. Clear the DTCs (LandCruiser RM000000VNG00DX.html).

  5. Turn the ignition switch off.

  6. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

  7. Perform the DTC judgment driving pattern to run the DTC judgment.

  8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.

  9. Input the DTCs to be confirmed.

  10. Check the DTC judgment result.

    GTS Display
    Description
    NORMAL

    2. System normal
    ABNORMAL
    1. DTC judgment completed
    2. System abnormal

    2. You should perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions
    N/A
    1. Unable to perform DTC judgment
