DTC P2226 Barometric Pressure Circuit

DTC P2228 Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input

DTC P2229 Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input

DESCRIPTION

To detect atmospheric pressure, the built-in atmospheric pressure sensor in the ECM is used. Using the atmospheric pressure, the ECM corrects the injection volume, timing and duration, and adjusts the common rail internal fuel pressure in order to optimize engine combustion.

P2226
DTC Detection Drive Pattern
DTC Detection Condition
Trouble Area
Ignition switch ON for 1 second
Atmospheric pressure sensor voltage is 1.4 V or less, or 4.0 V or higher for 0.5 seconds (1 trip detection logic).
ECM

P2228
DTC Detection Drive Pattern
DTC Detection Condition
Trouble Area
Ignition switch ON for 1 second
Atmospheric pressure sensor voltage is 1.4 V or less for 0.5 seconds (1 trip detection logic).
ECM

P2229
DTC Detection Drive Pattern
DTC Detection Condition
Trouble Area
Ignition switch ON for 1 second
Atmospheric pressure sensor voltage is 4.0 V or higher for 0.5 seconds (1 trip detection logic).

Data List
P2226
  1. Atmosphere Pressure
  2. MAP
P2228
P2229
HINT:
  1. When the ignition switch is ON, the intake manifold pressure, "MAP", is approximately equal to atmospheric pressure.
  2. Under standard atmospheric pressure conditions, the output of the atmospheric pressure sensor is 101 kPa. For every 100 m increase in elevation, pressure drops by 1 kPa. This varies by weather (high atmospheric pressure, low atmospheric pressure).
  3. If DTC P2226, P2228 and/or P2229 is stored, the following symptoms may appear:
    1. Misfire
    2. Combustion noise
    3. Black smoke
    4. White smoke

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
  1. Inspect the fuses of circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
  2. After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (HILUX_TGN26 RM0000012XK070X.html) and initialization (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000TIN057X.html).
  3. After replacing the fuel supply pump assembly, the ECM needs initialization (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000TIN057X.html).
  4. After replacing an injector assembly, the ECM needs registration (HILUX_TGN26 RM0000012XK070X.html).
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.REPLACE ECM
  1. Replace the ECM (HILUX_TGN26 RM0000013Z001HX.html).

2.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Clear the DTCs (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000PDK11ZX.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 1 second or more.

  1. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
