DTC P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure Circuit Range / Performance Problem

Trouble Area
After warming up engine, idle engine for 10 seconds or more, and then drive vehicle under load (accelerator opening amount 15% or more) with engine speed at 6000 rpm or less for 10 seconds
Either condition is met (2 trip detection logic):
(a) The manifold absolute pressure output is 2.01 V or higher for 10 seconds when idling the engine after warming it up.
(b) The manifold absolute pressure sensor output is 0.45 V or less for 10 seconds when the accelerator opening amount is 15% or more and the engine speed is 6000 rpm or less.

  1. If DTC P0106 is stored, the following symptoms may appear:
    1. Misfire
    2. Combustion noise
    3. Black smoke
    4. White smoke
    5. Lack of power

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
  1. Inspect the fuses of circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
  2. After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (HILUX_TGN26 RM0000012XK058X.html) and initialization (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000TIN056X.html).
  3. After replacing the fuel supply pump assembly, the ECM needs initialization (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000TIN056X.html).
  4. After replacing an injector assembly, the ECM needs registration (HILUX_TGN26 RM0000012XK058X.html).
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0106)
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

  1. Read the DTCs.

2.CHECK VACUUM HOSE CONNECTIONS
  1. Check the vacuum hose connections.

    OK:
    Vacuum hose is connected correctly and is not damaged.

3.REPLACE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR
  1. Replace the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

5.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Clear the DTCs (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000PDK0X2X.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off for 30 seconds or more.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. After warming up the engine, idle the engine for 10 seconds or more, and then drive the vehicle under load (accelerator opening angle 15% or more) with the engine speed at 6000 rpm or less for 10 seconds or more.

  1. Confirm that the pending DTC is not output again.

    HINT:
    Perform the following procedure using the tester to determine whether or not the DTC judgment has been carried out.
    1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.

    2. Input DTC P0106.

    3. Check that STATUS is NORMAL. If STATUS is INCOMPLETE or N/A, drive the vehicle for 5 minutes, idle the engine for 5 minutes, and then check "All Readiness" again.
