Back Window Glass (For Extra Cab) -- Removal |
1. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH |
Put protective tape around the front door scuff plate.

Using a moulding remover, detach the 4 clips and 8 claws and remove the front door scuff plate.
2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
3. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY |

4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM LH |
Partially remove the front door opening trim LH so that the inside trim board LH and inner upper roof side garnish LH can be removed (HILUX_TGN26 RM00000148O01KX_01_0004.html).
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
6. REMOVE LOWER BACK PANEL GARNISH |
Detach the 6 claws, 2 guides and 5 clips and remove the lower back panel garnish.
7. REMOVE QUARTER INSIDE TRIM BOARD LH |
Remove the bolt and disconnect the front seat outer belt floor anchor.
Detach the 4 claws, 3 guides and 7 clips and remove the quarter inside trim board.
8. REMOVE QUARTER INSIDE TRIM BOARD RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
9. REMOVE QUARTER PILLAR GARNISH LH |
Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the front seat belt shoulder anchor cover.
- HINT:
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

)Remove the bolt and disconnect the front seat belt shoulder anchor.
Detach the 2 clips and remove the quarter pillar garnish.
10. REMOVE QUARTER PILLAR GARNISH RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
11. REMOVE INNER UPPER ROOF SIDE GARNISH LH |
w/ Seat Cushion:
Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and open the rear seat belt shoulder anchor cover.
- HINT:
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

Remove the bolt and disconnect the rear seat belt shoulder anchor.
Detach the 3 clips and remove the inner upper roof side garnish.
12. REMOVE INNER UPPER ROOF SIDE GARNISH RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
13. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY |
Partially remove the roof headlining.
- HINT:
- It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining. Slightly lower the rear section of the roof headlining so that the back window glass can be removed in a later step (HILUX_TGN26 RM00000148O01KX_01_0023.html).
14. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS |
Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.
From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and back window glass as shown in the illustration.
Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to all wire ends.
- NOTICE:
- When separating the back window glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle's paint or interior/exterior ornaments.
Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window glass.
- NOTICE:
- Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when cutting through the adhesive.

Using suction cups, remove the back window glass.
15. CLEAN BACK WINDOW GLASS |
Using a scraper, remove the spacers, moulding and adhesive sticking to the back window glass.
Clean the outer edges of the back window glass with non-residue solvent.
- NOTICE:
- Do not touch the back window glass surface after cleaning it.
- Even if using new back window glass, clean it with non-residue solvent.
Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.
Use a knife to cut away excess adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
- HINT:
- Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.
Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.
- NOTICE:
- Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
