Front Axle Hub (For 2Wd) Removal

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

  3. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH (w/ ABS)

  4. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE

  5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH

  6. REMOVE FRONT DISC

  7. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  8. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  9. DISCONNECT FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  10. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB ASSEMBLY

  11. REMOVE KNUCKLE GREASE RETAINER CAP LH

  12. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT LH

  13. REMOVE ABS SPEED SENSOR ROTOR (w/ ABS)

  14. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL INNER BEARING SPACER LH (w/o ABS)

  15. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE LH

  16. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB OIL SEAL LH

  17. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB INNER BEARING LH

Front Axle Hub (For 2Wd) -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
  2. The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL


2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
NOTICE:
Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.


3. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH (w/ ABS)

  1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the speed sensor.

  1. Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the 3 clamps.



4. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. Remove the union bolt and gasket.

  1. Disconnect the flexible hose from the brake cylinder.



5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Remove the union bolt and gasket, and disconnect the brake hose from the brake cylinder.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and brake cylinder.



6. REMOVE FRONT DISC

  1. Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.

  1. Remove the disc.



7. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Remove the cotter pin and nut.

  1. Using SST, disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle arm.

8. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the suspension arm from the steering knuckle.



9. DISCONNECT FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25.Axle And Differential.Axle System.Front Axle Hub (For 2Wd) Removal

  1. Support the front axle hub assembly with a jack.

  1. Remove the clip and nut.

  1. Using SST, disconnect the steering knuckle from the upper suspension arm.

10. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB ASSEMBLY


11. REMOVE KNUCKLE GREASE RETAINER CAP LH

  1. Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the knuckle grease retainer cap.



12. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT LH

  1. Using a chisel and hammer, loosen the staked part of the hub nut.

  1. Remove the hub nut.



13. REMOVE ABS SPEED SENSOR ROTOR (w/ ABS)

  1. Remove the ABS speed sensor rotor.

    NOTICE:
    Take care not to scratch the serration of the speed sensor rotor.


14. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL INNER BEARING SPACER LH (w/o ABS)

  1. Remove the spacer.



15. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE LH

  1. Remove the 3 bolts, and shift the dust cover towards the hub (outside).

  1. Using SST, remove the steering knuckle.

  1. Remove the dust cover from the axle hub.

    NOTICE:
    Take care not to scratch the serration of the speed sensor rotor.


16. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB OIL SEAL LH

  1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal from the steering knuckle.



17. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB INNER BEARING LH

  1. Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring.

  1. Using SST and a press, press out the bearing from the steering knuckle.
