Front Drive Shaft Assembly Removal

Drive Shaft Propeller Shaft. Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  4. DRAIN DIFFERENTIAL OIL

  5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB GREASE CAP

  6. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT

  7. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH (w/ ABS)

  8. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  9. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  10. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

  11. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING

Front Drive Shaft Assembly -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
  2. The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL


2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER


3. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER


4. DRAIN DIFFERENTIAL OIL

  1. Stop the vehicle on a level surface.

  1. Remove the differential filler plug and gasket.

  1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the oil.

  1. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

    Torque:
    for front differential:
    65 N*m{660 kgf*cm, 48 ft.*lbf}
    for rear differential:
    49 N*m{500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf}


5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB GREASE CAP

  1. Using a screwdriver and hammer, remove the grease cap.

    NOTICE:
    Do not damage the axle hub.


6. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT

  1. Remove the cotter pin and lock cap.

  1. Remove the axle shaft nut.



7. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH (w/ ABS)

  1. Remove the bolt and speed sensor.

  1. Disconnect the 2 clamps.

  1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the speed sensor wire harness from the steering knuckle.



8. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Remove the cotter pin and nut.

  1. Using SST, disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle arm.

9. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the front suspension arm from the steering knuckle.



10. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH


Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25.Drive Shaft Propeller Shaft.Drive Shaft System.Front Drive Shaft Assembly Removal

  1. Using SST, remove the front drive shaft.

    SST
    09520-01010
    09520-24010(09520-32040)
    NOTICE:
    1. Be careful not to damage the oil seal.
    2. Keep the drive shaft level while handling it.
    3. Be careful not to drop the front drive shaft.


11. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING


Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring.
