Ecd System (For I-Art) -- Initialization

INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE FOR DIESEL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, ELECTRIC EGR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY AND TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY
HINT:
When the diesel throttle body assembly, electric EGR control valve assembly or turbocharger sub-assembly is replaced, perform initialization
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    NOTICE:
    Do not start the engine.
  2. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 10 seconds or more.

SUPPLY PUMP INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE
HINT:
After replacing the fuel supply pump assembly and/or ECM:
  1. If the engine is defective or stalls immediately after startup, the learned values of the ECM must be initialized. The engine can be initialized through the GTS or by connecting DLC3 terminals.
  2. If the engine starts normally, initialization is not necessary. Perform the steps labeled procedure "A" and procedure "B" only.

    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    NOTICE:
    Do not start the engine.
  3. Turn the GTS on.

  4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / Supply Pump Initialization.

  5. Press "Next".

  6. Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25
  7. Press "Next".

  8. Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25
  9. Press "Exit".

  10. Start the engine to check if the initialization is complete. If the engine cannot be started, repeat the initialization procedures from the beginning (Procedure "A").

  11. Idle the engine for at least 1 minute under the following conditions: (Procedure "B")

    1. The engine coolant temperature is 60°C (140°F) or higher.
    2. The fuel temperature is 20°C (68°F) or higher.
    NOTICE:
Do not race the engine immediately after starting the engine. After warming up the engine, racing the engine is acceptable.
    HINT:
    1. The engine coolant temperature can be estimated by touching the outlet hose.
    2. The fuel temperature can be estimated by using the ambient temperature as a substitute.
    3. If the engine coolant temperature is difficult to estimate, use the GTS and enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Coolant Temp.
  12. Initialization is complete.

CRANK TIME COMPENSATION RESET FUNCTION
  1. This procedure uses the GTS to perform "Crank Time Compensation Reset".
  2. When replacing the timing rotor (engine assembly), perform "Crank Time Compensation Reset".
HINT:

  1. Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25
If an error occurs during compensation reset, check the vehicle condition, and then perform compensation reset again.
  2. A communication malfunction may occur if there is a problem with the ECM, a wire harness or the connection to the DLC3. If the wire harnesses and the connection to the DLC3 are inspected and found to be normal, the ECM may be malfunctioning.
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    NOTICE:
    Do not start the engine.
  3. Turn the GTS on.

  4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / Crank Time Compensation Reset.

  5. Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25
  6. When the first screen is displayed, check the vehicle condition and push "Next".

  7. Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25
  8. When the screen indicating reset completion is displayed, push "Exit".

i-ART Learning Value Reset
NOTICE:
  1. When the engine is started after the i-ART learned value is reset with the ignition switch ON, the value for Injection Feedback Val may indicate a malfunction momentarily. However, this is not a malfunction and is due to the i-ART learned value being reset. The value returns to normal once learning is begun.
  2. When the battery cable is disconnected, reconnect the battery cable, turn the ignition switch to ON and wait 3 minutes or more before performing this procedure.
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    NOTICE:
    Do not start the engine.
  3. Turn the GTS on.

  4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / i-ART Learning Value Reset.
After confirming the following conditions, proceed to the next step:

    1. 3 minutes or more has elapsed after turning the ignition switch to ON and connecting the battery cable.
    2. The engine is stopped.
    3. Battery voltage is 8 V or more.
  5. Select the cylinder to be reset.

  6. Press "Next".

    HINT:
The reset is performed automatically after "Next" is selected.
  7. If the reset fails, confirm the following conditions and perform the reset again.

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait 3 minutes or more.

    4. Battery voltage is 8 V or more.

  8. When the screen indicating reset completion is displayed, push "Exit".
