  1. CHECK MASS AIR FLOW METER

Mass Air Flow Meter -- On-Vehicle Inspection


NOTICE:
  1. Perform the mass air flow meter inspection according to the procedures below.
  2. Only replace the mass air flow meter when the mass air flow value in the DATA LIST (with the engine stopped) is not within the normal operating range or there is foreign matter on the mass air flow meter platinum hot wire (heater).


1. CHECK MASS AIR FLOW METER

  1. Read value using intelligent tester (MAF).

    NOTICE:
    1. Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface.
    2. Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter while it is installed to the air cleaner case (installed to the vehicle).
    3. During the test, do not use the exhaust air duct to perform suction on the exhaust pipe.

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (do not run the engine).

    2. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAF.

    4. Wait 30 seconds and then read the values on the intelligent tester.

      Standard Condition:

      1. Engine not running
      2. 30 seconds after ignition switch is turned ON
      		Below 0.36 g/sec.
      If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter.
      If the result is within the specified range, inspect the mass air flow meter (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000VW401FX_01_0001.html).
