Front Speed Sensor Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  3. REMOVE SIDE MUDGUARD

  4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER

  5. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR (except TMC Made)

  6. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR (for TMC Made)

Front Speed Sensor -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
  2. The following procedure is for the LH side.
  3. If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly (for TMC Made).
  4. If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the front drive shaft assembly (except TMC Made).


1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL


2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL


3. REMOVE SIDE MUDGUARD

  1. Put protective tape around the side mudguard.

  1. Remove the 2 clips.



    Corolla. Zre142 Aze141

  1. Remove the 3 screws.



    Corolla. Zre142 Aze141

  1. Remove the 9 retainers.



    Corolla. Zre142 Aze141

  1. Disengage the 8 clips and remove the side mudguard.



4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER


    Corolla. Zre142 Aze141

  1. Remove the 8 clips and 3 screws.

  1. Remove the 3 grommets and the front fender liner.

    HINT:
    The grommets need to be replaced with new ones because they will break when they are removed.


5. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR (except TMC Made)

  1. Disconnect the front speed sensor connector.

  1. Remove the front speed sensor wire harness clamp from the body.

  1. Remove the bolt and the No. 2 sensor clamp from the body.



    Corolla. Zre142 Aze141

  1. Remove the bolt and separate the brake flexible hose.

  1. Remove the No. 1 sensor clamp from the shock absorber.

  1. Remove the clamp from the shock absorber.



    Corolla. Zre142 Aze141

  1. Remove the bolt and the front speed sensor.

    NOTICE:
    1. Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the sensor tip.
    2. Clean the installation hole and the surface for the front speed sensor every time the front speed sensor is removed.


6. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR (for TMC Made)

  1. Disconnect the front speed sensor connector.

  1. Remove the front speed sensor wire harness clamp from the body.

  1. Remove the bolt and the No. 2 sensor clamp from the body.



    Corolla. Zre142 Aze141

  1. Remove the bolt and separate the brake flexible hose.

  1. Remove the No. 1 sensor clamp from the shock absorber.



    Corolla. Zre142 Aze141

  1. Remove the bolt and the front speed sensor.

    NOTICE:
    1. Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the sensor tip.
    2. Clean the installation hole and the surface for the front speed sensor every time the front speed sensor is removed.
