Side Airbag Sensor (For Rear Side) Removal
PRECAUTION
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE
DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP
REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP
REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR

- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
- The following procedure is for the LH side.
- CAUTION:
- Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000KT10H0X.html).
| 2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
| 3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE |
Disengage the 8 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.
| 4. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP |
Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
| 5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE |
Disengage the 6 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate LH.
| 6. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP |
Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
| 7. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH |
Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and remove the lower center pillar garnish LH.
| 8. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR |
Check that the ignition switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Disconnect the connector.
- NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Remove the bolt, disengage the pin and remove the side airbag sensor.
- NOTICE:
- Loosen the bolt while holding the side airbag sensor because the side airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
