Front Shock Absorber Removal

Remove the 2 front wiper arm head caps.

Remove the nut and the front wiper arm and blade assembly LH.

Remove the nut and the front wiper arm and blade assembly RH.

Disengage the 7 clips and remove the hood to cowl top seal.

Disengage the clip and 14 claws, and remove the center No. 1 cowl top ventilator louver.

Disengage the clip and 8 claws, and remove the cowl top ventilator louver LH.

Disconnect the connector.

Remove the 2 bolts and the windshield wiper motor and link assembly.

Disengage the clamp and bend the water guard plate RH as shown in the illustration.

Disengage the clamp.

Remove the 12 bolts and outer cowl top panel.

Disengage the clamp and bend the water guard plate RH as shown in the illustration.

Disengage the clamp and bend the No. 1 heater air duct splash shield seal.

Disengage the clamp.

Remove the 12 bolts and outer cowl top panel.

Remove the nut and separate the stabilizer link assembly from the front shock absorber with coil spring.

NOTICE:

If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon wrench (6 mm) to hold the stud bolt.

Remove the bolt and separate the front flexible hose and the front speed sensor from the front shock absorber with coil spring.

NOTICE:

Be sure to separate the front speed sensor from the front shock absorber with coil spring completely.

Remove the bolt and separate the front flexible hose and the front speed sensor from the front shock absorber with coil spring.

NOTICE:

Be sure to separate the front speed sensor from the front shock absorber with coil spring completely.

Remove the clamp and separate the front speed sensor from the front shock absorber.

Remove the front suspension support dust cover.

Remove the front suspension support dust cover.

Loosen the front support to front shock absorber nut of the front shock absorber.

NOTICE:

1. Do not remove the front support to front shock absorber nut.
   
2. Loosen the nut only when the front shock absorber with coil spring needs to be disassembled.
   

Support the front axle using a jack and wooden block.

Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and separate the front shock absorber with coil spring (lower side) from the steering knuckle.

Remove the 3 nuts and front shock absorber with coil spring.

NOTICE:

Make sure that the front speed sensor is completely separated from the front shock absorber with coil spring.

Loosen the front support to front shock absorber nut of the front shock absorber.

NOTICE:

1. Do not remove the front support to front shock absorber nut.
   
2. Loosen the nut only when the front shock absorber with coil spring needs to be disassembled.
   

Support the front axle using a jack and wooden block.

Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and separate the front shock absorber with coil spring (lower side) from the steering knuckle.

Remove the 3 nuts and front shock absorber with coil spring.

NOTICE:

Make sure that the front speed sensor is completely separated from the front shock absorber with coil spring.

Install the bolt and nut to the front shock absorber as shown in the illustration and secure the front shock absorber in a vise.

A:

28 mm (1.102 in.)

Using SST, compress the front coil spring.

HINT:

If the front coil spring is compressed at an angle, using 2 SST will make the work easier.

Check that the front coil spring is sufficiently compressed.

NOTICE:

Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage SST.

Remove the front support to front shock absorber nut.
