Cigarette Lighter -- Removal



1. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Turn the shift lever knob counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.



2. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Turn the shift lever knob counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.



3. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the No. 1 instrument cluster finish panel garnish.



4. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the No. 2 instrument cluster finish panel garnish.



5. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)

  1. Disengage the 6 claws and the 3 clips, and then remove the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly.

  1. with Seat Heater System:

    1. Disconnect each connector.



6. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL (for Manual Transaxle)

  1. Open the lid of the upper console panel.

  1. Apply protective tape to the area shown in the illustration.

  1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 2 claws and the 5 clips, and then remove the upper console panel as shown in the illustration.



7. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)

  1. Disengage the 3 claws and the 5 clips.

  1. Disengage the clamp.

  1. Disconnect the connector and remove the upper console rear panel sub-assembly.



8. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)

  1. Disengage the 3 claws and the 5 clips, and remove the upper console rear panel sub-assembly.



9. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL CENTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 2 screws <F>.

  1. Disengage the 4 claws.

  1. Disconnect each connector and remove the instrument cluster finish panel center sub-assembly.

    HINT:
    Set the shift lever in the D position.


10. REMOVE CIGARETTE LIGHTER ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the cigarette lighter knob and element assembly.

  1. Disconnect the connector.



    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Turn the cigarette lighter nut in the direction indicated by the arrow to remove it.

  1. Disengage the 2 claws and separate the ash receptacle retainer sub-assembly.

  1. Disconnect the cigarette lighter bulb socket.

  1. Remove the cigarette lighter retainer.

  1. Remove the cigarette lighter socket.

  1. Disconnect the cigarette lighter bulb socket.

  1. Remove the cigarette lighter bulb cap.

  1. Remove the 2 cigarette lighter bulbs.
