Brake Booster Removal

  1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION (for RHD)

  2. REMOVE ENGINE AND TRANSAXLE (for 2GR-FE RHD)

  3. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

  4. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY (for RHD)

  5. SEPARATE BRAKE TUBE (for RHD)

  6. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING (for LHD)

  7. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING (for RHD)

  8. SEPARATE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS

  9. DISCONNECT NO. 2 VACUUM HOSE (for LHD)

  10. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  11. DISCONNECT NO. 2 VACUUM HOSE (for 2AZ-FE RHD)

  12. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY

  13. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET

  14. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS

Brake Booster -- Removal



1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION (for RHD)
  1. Start up the engine.

  1. Turn the A/C switch on.

  1. Operate the cooler compressor at an engine speed of approximately 1,000 rpm for 5 to 6 minutes to circulate the refrigerant. This causes most of the compressor oil from the various components of the A/C system to collect in the A/C compressor.

  1. Stop the engine.

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system using a refrigerant recovery unit.



2. REMOVE ENGINE AND TRANSAXLE (for 2GR-FE RHD)

Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE MECHANICAL ENGINE ASSEMBLY (for 2GR-FE)". (Link)


3. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40
  1. Remove the bolt, and slide the hook connector.

  1. Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.

  1. Remove the O-ring from the suction hose sub-assembly.

    NOTICE:
    Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.


4. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY (for RHD)
  1. Disconnect the air conditioning tube and accessory.

  1. Remove the O-ring from the air conditioner tube and accessory.

    NOTICE:
    Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.


5. SEPARATE BRAKE TUBE (for RHD)
  1. Using SST, disconnect the 6 brake lines from the actuator assembly with bracket.
    Without VSC (CAMRY_ACV40 RM0000013P6007X_01_0016.html)
    With VSC (CAMRY_ACV40 RM0000013P6006X_01_0016.html)

  1. Separate the brake line from the clamp.



6. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING (for LHD)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40
  1. Remove the brake pedal return spring.



7. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING (for RHD)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40.Brake.Brake System.Brake Booster  Removal
  1. Remove the brake pedal return spring.



8. SEPARATE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40.Brake.Brake System.Brake Booster  Removal
  1. Remove the clip and push rod clevis pin, and separate the brake master cylinder push rod clevis from the brake pedal sub-assembly.



9. DISCONNECT NO. 2 VACUUM HOSE (for LHD)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40
  1. Move the clip and disconnect the No. 2 vacuum hose.



10. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY

11. DISCONNECT NO. 2 VACUUM HOSE (for 2AZ-FE RHD)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40
  1. Move the clip and disconnect the No. 2 vacuum hose.



12. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40
  1. Remove the 4 nuts and the brake booster assembly.

    NOTICE:
    Do not damage the brake lines.


13. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40.Brake.Brake System.Brake Booster  Removal
  1. Remove the brake booster gasket.



14. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS
  1. Loosen the lock nut and remove the brake master cylinder push rod clevis.
