  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE SEAT TRACK COVER

  4. REMOVE INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER

  5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE VERTICAL ADJUSTER COVER LH (for Driver Seat)

  7. REMOVE VERTICAL ADJUSTING HANDLE NO. 2 (for Driver Seat)

  8. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE

  9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD

  10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY

  11. REMOVE FRONT INNER SEAT CUSHION SHIELD

  12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY

  13. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT (for LH Side)

  14. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT (for RH Side)

  15. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD

  16. REMOVE FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

Front Seat Side Airbag Assembly (For Manual Seat) -- Removal


CAUTION:
  1. Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000KT1016X.html).
  2. If the side airbag was deployed, replace the front seat assembly with a new one.


1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.


2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY


3. REMOVE SEAT TRACK COVER

  1. Move the front seat assembly fully forward by operating the slide handle.

  1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the seat track cover.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


4. REMOVE INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the inner seat track bracket cover.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY

  1. Move the front seat assembly to the rearmost position by operating the slide handle.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts on the front seat track bracket.

  1. Move the front seat assembly fully forward by operating the slide handle.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts on the rear seat track bracket.

  1. Move the front seat assembly to the center position and adjust the seatback to the vertical position by operating the slide and reclining adjuster release handle.

  1. Disconnect the connectors and clamp.

  1. Remove the front seat assembly.



6. REMOVE VERTICAL ADJUSTER COVER LH (for Driver Seat)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the vertical adjuster cover LH.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


7. REMOVE VERTICAL ADJUSTING HANDLE NO. 2 (for Driver Seat)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Remove the 2 screws and vertical adjusting handle.



8. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Lift the reclining adjuster release handle.

  1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the reclining adjuster release handle.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Disengage the 2 hooks.



    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Remove the 3 screws.

  1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front seat cushion shield.



10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY

  1. for Driver seat:

    1. Disconnect the connectors and disengage the 4 clamps.

  1. for Passenger seat:

    1. Disconnect the connector and disengage the 3 clamps.

  1. Remove the nut and front seat inner belt assembly.



11. REMOVE FRONT INNER SEAT CUSHION SHIELD


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Remove the screw.

  1. Disengage the claw and clip, and then remove the front inner seat cushion shield.



12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40.Supplemental Restraint System.Airbag System.Front Seat Side Airbag Assembly (For Manual Seat) Removal

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Disconnect the 14 clamps and front separate type seatback cover.

  1. Pull the seat back board in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to detach the 2 claws. Then, remove the seatback board.



13. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT (for LH Side)


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the headrest support.



14. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT (for RH Side)


15. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Disengage the 3 hooks.

  1. Remove the 2 hog rings.



    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40

  1. Remove the nut and separate the 2 brackets.

  1. Remove the front separate type seatback cover with pad.



16. REMOVE FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40.Supplemental Restraint System.Airbag System.Front Seat Side Airbag Assembly (For Manual Seat) Removal

  1. Disengage the 5 clamps and disconnect the wire harness.



    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40.Supplemental Restraint System.Airbag System.Front Seat Side Airbag Assembly (For Manual Seat) Removal

  1. Disengage the 2 clamps and disconnect the wire harness.

  1. Remove the 2 nuts and front seat side airbag assembly.

    CAUTION:
    1. The nuts must not be reused.
    2. Make sure that the seat frame assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
