Rear Axle Carrier Removal
REMOVE REAR WHEEL
SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE REAR DISC
SEPARATE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (w/ HID Headlight System)
REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY
SEPARATE REAR STRUT ROD
SEPARATE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM
SEPARATE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM
REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Rear Axle Carrier -- Removal |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
2. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY |
Remove the bolt and separate the flexible hose from the shock absorber.
Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.
- NOTICE:
- Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.
Put matchmarks on the rear disc and the axle hub.
Release the parking brake and remove the rear disc.
- HINT:
- If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn and press firmly the shoe adjuster until the wheel comes free.
4. SEPARATE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (w/ HID Headlight System) |
- HINT:
- Perform the procedure only when removing the RH side. (CAMRY_ACV40 RM0000011E1009X_01_0005.html)
5. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the skid control sensor connector.
Remove the 4 bolts and hub and bearing assembly.
6. SEPARATE REAR STRUT ROD |
Remove the bolt and nut, and separate the rear strut rod (rear axle carrier side) from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
- HINT:
- When removing the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.
7. SEPARATE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM |
Remove the bolt and nut, and separate the rear No. 2 suspension arm (rear axle carrier side) from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
- HINT:
- When removing the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.
8. SEPARATE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM |
Remove the bolt and nut, and separate the rear No. 1 suspension arm (rear axle carrier side) from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
- HINT:
- When removing the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.
9. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and remove the rear axle carrier sub-assembly from the shock absorber.
