Skid Control Sensor Removal

REMOVE REAR WHEEL
DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE
SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE REAR DISC
REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY WITH SKID CONTROL SENSOR
REMOVE SKID CONTROL SENSOR
Skid Control Sensor -- Removal |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
2. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE |
Disconnect the connector from the skid control sensor.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the skid control sensor.
3. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY |
Remove the bolt and separate the flexible hose from the shock absorber.
Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.
- NOTICE:
- Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.
Put matchmarks on the rear disc and the axle hub.
Release the parking brake and remove the rear disc.
- HINT:
- If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn and press firmly the shoe adjuster until the wheel comes free.
5. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY WITH SKID CONTROL SENSOR |
Disconnect the skid control sensor connector.
Remove the 4 bolts and hub and bearing assembly.
6. REMOVE SKID CONTROL SENSOR |
Mount the rear axle hub and bearing assembly in a vise using aluminum plates.
- NOTICE:
- Replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.
Using a pin punch and hammer, drive out the 2 pins and remove the 2 attachments from SST.

Using SST and 2 bolts (Diameter: 12 mm, pitch: 1.5 mm), remove the skid control sensor from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

- NOTICE:
- Keep the skid control sensor away from magnets.
- Pull the skid control sensor off straight, taking care not to make contact with the skid control sensor rotor.
- If the skid control sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
- Do not scratch the contact surface between the rear axle hub and bearing assembly and the skid control sensor.
- Do not attach foreign matter to the skid control sensor rotor and tip.
