INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED

CHECK BATTERY

INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (IG1 TERMINAL)

INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (GND TERMINAL)

INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM - ABS Warning Light Remains ON


DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU is connected to the combination meter via CAN communication.
If any of the following is detected, the ABS warning light remains on.
  1. The skid control ECU connectors are disconnected from the skid control ECU.
  2. There is a malfunction in the skid control ECU internal circuit.
  3. There is an open in the harness between the combination meter and the skid control ECU.
HINT:
In some cases, the intelligent tester cannot be used when the skid control ECU is abnormal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000XHR00DX.html).
1.CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

  1. Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000WIB00WX.html for LHD, or CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000WIB00YX.html for RHD).

    Result:

2.CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED

  1. Check if the skid control ECU connector is securely connected.

    OK:
    The connector should be securely connected.

CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY

3.CHECK BATTERY

  1. Check the battery voltage.

    Standard voltage:
    11 to 14 V

CHECK AND REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM OR BATTERY

4.INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (IG1 TERMINAL)

  1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A26-46 (IG1) - Body ground
    		Ignition switch ON
    		10 to 14 V

5.INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (GND TERMINAL)

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A26-32 (GND1) - Body ground
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω
    A26-1 (GND2) - Body ground
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GND CIRCUIT)

6.INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

  1. Reconnect the skid control ECU connector.

  1. Perform Active Test of the combination meter (meter CPU) using the intelligent tester (CAMRY_ACV40 RM0000012G700LX.html).

    OK:
    The ABS warning light turns on or off in accordance with the intelligent tester.
    HINT:
    If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000XHN00DX.html).
