DESCRIPTION
The crankshaft position sensor system consists of a crankshaft position sensor plate and a pickup coil. The sensor plate has 34 teeth and is installed on the crankshaft. The pickup coil is made of an iron core and magnet. The sensor plate rotates, and a pulse signal is created as each tooth passes by the pickup coil. The pickup coil generates 34 signals for each engine revolution. Based on these signals, the ECM calculates the crankshaft position and engine RPM. Using these calculations, the common rail injection system is controlled.DTC No.
| DTC Detection Condition

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:
- After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (see page RAV4_ACA30 RM000000TJ4007X.html) and initialization (see page RAV4_ACA30 RM000000TIN007X.html).
1.INSPECT CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR |
Disconnect the B42 crankshaft position sensor connector.
Measure the resistance of the sensor.
- Standard resistance:
Tester Connection
| Condition
| Specified Condition
|
B42-1 (NE) - B42-2 (NE-)
| Cold
| 835 to 1,400 Ω
|
B42-1 (NE) - B42-2 (NE-)
| Hot
| 1,060 to 1,645 Ω
|
- УКАЗАНИЕ:
- In the table above, the terms "Cold" and "Hot" refer to the temperature of the coils in the sensor. "Cold" means approximately -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F). "Hot" means approximately 50 to 100°C (122 to 212°F).
Reconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
| REPLACE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR |
|
|
2.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - ECM) |
Disconnect the B42 crankshaft position sensor connector.
Disconnect the B32 ECM connector.
Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
- Standard resistance:
Tester Connection
| Specified Condition
|
B42-1 (NE) - B32-78 (NE+)
| Below 1 Ω
|
B42-2 (NE-) - B32-77 (NE-)
| Below 1 Ω
|
B42-1 (NE) or B32-78 (NE+) - Body ground
| 10 kΩ or higher
|
B42-2 (NE-) or B32-77 (NE-) - Body ground
| 10 kΩ or higher
|
Reconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
Reconnect the ECM connector.
| REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR |
|
|
3.CHECK CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (SENSOR INSTALLATION) |
Check the sensor installation.
- OK:
- Sensor is installed correctly.
| REPAIR OR REPLACE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR |
|
|
4.CHECK CRANKSHAFT TIMING SPROCKET |
Check the teeth of the crankshaft timing sprocket.
- OK:
- The sensor plate's teeth do not have any cracks or deformation.
| REPLACE CRANKSHAFT TIMING SPROCKET |
|
