DTC P1601 EEPROM Error - Injector Correction Value, DPNR Thermal Degradation Record

 

Description

 

HINT:

Whether the abnormality occurs in the DPNR catalyst thermal deterioration history data or in the injector compensation code can be determined by checking the Data List.

Toyota fault code list DTC P1601

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P1601 When either condition below is met:
  1. Injector compensation code is not registered (1 trip detection logic)
  2. Wrong injector compensation code is registered (1 trip detection logic)
  1. Injector compensation code
  2. ECM
When either condition below is met:
  1. The DPNR catalyst thermal deterioration history data in the ECM is still the initial value (1 trip detection logic)
  2. The DPNR catalyst thermal deterioration history data is not recorded correctly in the ECM (2 trip detection logic)

Inspection procedure

 

NOTICE:

After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration and initialization.

1.CONFIRM ECM
  1. Confirm if DTC P1601 was output because a new ECM was installed.

     

    Result:
    Result Proceed to
    DTC P1601 was output due to new ECM being installed A
    DTC P1601 was output due to original ECM malfunction B

2.CHECK DTC OUTPUT
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the tester ON.

  3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

  4. Read the DTCs.

     

    Result:
    Display (DTC Output) Proceed to
    P1601 A
    Other output B

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the tester ON.

  3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Catalyst Memory Error and Injector Memory Error.

  1. Read the catalyst record of DPNR thermal deterioration from old ECM.

  2. Set the catalyst record of DPNR thermal deterioration to new ECM.
