METER / GAUGE SYSTEM - OPERATION CHECK

INSPECT INDICATOR/WARNING LIGHT

INSPECT SPEEDOMETER

Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Turn the intelligent tester on.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.

If the result is not as specified, the speedometer may have a malfunction.


  • NOTICE:
  • Do not use worn, underinflated or overinflated tires, as the speedometer reading will be inaccurate.

Check the deflection width of the speedometer indicator.

INSPECT TACHOMETER

Connect a tune-up tachometer, and start the engine.

Compare the test results with the tachometer indicator.

DC 13.5 V, at 25°C (77°F):

If the result is not as specified, the tachometer may have a malfunction.

INSPECT METER/GAUGE

Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

Perform Active Test ().

  • OK:
  • Each meter/gauge needle indication is normal.
INSPECT WARNING/INDICATOR LIGHT

Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

Perform Active Test ().

  • OK:
  • Each warning/indicator light turns on and off using the intelligent tester.
INSPECT ENGINE OIL LEVEL WARNING (except 3UR-FE)

Turn the ignition switch to ON and warm up the engine at an engine speed of 2000 rpm or less until the coolant temperature reaches approximately 80°C (176°F) or more.

Disconnect the engine oil level sensor connector for 40 seconds or more.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and check the multi-information display.

  • OK:
  • Low engine oil level message is displayed.
INSPECT MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY (w/ Multi-information Display)

Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

Perform Active Test ().

  • HINT:
  • If this Active Test is being performed and the ignition switch is turned off and then ON, the A/T and ODO/TRIP display background may turn white. If this occurs, end Active Test and turn the ignition switch off.
  • OK:
  • All dots in the multi-information display turn on and off using the intelligent tester.
