DTC B1677/85 Rear Floor Airbag Sensor RH Initialization Incomplete

DESCRIPTION

  • HINT:
  • "Rear floor airbag sensor RH" refer to the rear floor airbag sensor.
The rear floor airbag sensor circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and rear floor airbag sensor.
The rear floor airbag sensor detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the center airbag sensor to determine if the airbag should be deployed.
DTC B1676/85 or B1677/85 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the rear floor airbag sensor circuit.
DTC CodeDTC Detection ConditionTrouble Area
B1676/85When one of the following conditions is met:
The center airbag sensor receives a line short circuit signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the rear floor airbag sensor circuit for 2 seconds.
A rear floor airbag sensor malfunction.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

  • NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work ().
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected ().
1.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

Turn the ignition switch off.

Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the rear floor airbag sensor.

  • OK:
  • The connectors are properly connected.
NG
CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY
OK
2.CHECK CONNECTORS

Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and rear floor airbag sensor.

Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and rear floor airbag sensor side) are not damaged.

  • OK:
  • The connectors are not deformed or damaged.
NG
REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK
3.CHECK REAR FLOOR AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT

Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
