REAR COIL SPRING - REMOVAL

  • HINT:
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. REMOVE STABILIZER CONTROL VALVE PROTECTOR (w/ KDSS)
Rear Coil Spring - Removal. REAR SUSPENSION. Land Cruiser URJ200  URJ202 GRJ200 VDJ200

Detach the clamp, and disconnect the connector from the protector.

Remove the 3 bolts and protector.

2. OPEN STABILIZER CONTROL WITH ACCUMULATOR HOUSING SHUTTER VALVE (w/ KDSS)

Using a 5 mm hexagon socket wrench, loosen the lower and upper chamber shutter valves of the stabilizer control with accumulator housing 2.0 to 3.5 turns.

  • NOTICE:
When loosening a shutter valve, make sure that the end protrudes 2 to 3.5 mm (0.0787 to 0.137 in.) from the surface of the block, and do not turn the shutter valve any further.
Do not remove the shutter valves.
3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
4. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
  • NOTICE:
  • Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.
5. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

Remove the bolt and disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable.

6. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

Remove the bolt and disconnect the No. 2 parking brake cable.

7. DISCONNECT REAR AXLE BREATHER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

Disconnect the rear axle breather hose from the rear axle housing assembly.

8. SUPPORT REAR AXLE HOUSING ASSEMBLY

Support the rear axle housing with a jack using a wooden block to avoid damage.

9. DISCONNECT REAR STABILIZER END BRACKET (w/ KDSS)

Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the stabilizer end bracket.

10. DISCONNECT REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY (w/ KDSS)

Remove the nut and disconnect the stabilizer link from the stabilizer bar.

  • NOTICE:
  • Do not lose the ball Joint dust cover protector.
  • HINT:
  • If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud.
11. DISCONNECT REAR STABILIZER END BRACKET LH (w/o KDSS)

Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the stabilizer end bracket.

12. DISCONNECT REAR STABILIZER END BRACKET RH (w/o KDSS)

Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the stabilizer end bracket.

13. DISCONNECT REAR LATERAL CONTROL ROD ASSEMBLY

Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the rear lateral control rod from the frame.

14. DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE
Rear Coil Spring - Removal. REAR SUSPENSION. Land Cruiser URJ200  URJ202 GRJ200 VDJ200

Disconnect each brake tube from the flexible hose with a union nut wrench while holding the flexible hose with a wrench.

Remove the 2 clips.

Remove the flexible hose.

Disconnect each brake tube from the flexible hose with a union nut wrench while holding the flexible hose with a wrench.

Remove the 2 clips.

Remove the flexible hose.

15. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH

Remove the bolt on the lower side of the shock absorber.

Disconnect the shock absorber from the axle housing.

16. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH

Remove the bolt on the lower side of the shock absorber.

Disconnect the shock absorber from the axle housing.

17. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LH

While lowering the axle housing, remove the coil spring.

  • NOTICE:
  • Be careful not to snap the brake line.
18. REMOVE HOLLOW SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

Remove the hollow spring from the frame.
