DTC P244B Diesel Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Too High
DTC P2465 Diesel Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Too High Bank 2
DESCRIPTION
Refer to DTC P244C ().
DTC Detection Drive Pattern | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
Engine is running at 4000 rpm with no load for 10 seconds or more. | While driving, Catalyst Differential Pressure becomes more than 0.45 for 3 seconds. (1 trip detection logic) | Front exhaust pipe assembly (for bank 1 DPF catalytic converter) Front No. 2 exhaust pipe assembly (for bank 2 DPF catalytic converter) Differential pressure sensor assembly (for bank 1) Differential pressure sensor assembly (for bank 2) Fuel injection system Intake/exhaust system After treatment control system |
DTC No. | Data List |
P244B | DPF Differential Pressure Catalyst Differential Press Exhaust Fuel Addition FB |
P2465 | DPF Differential Pressure #2 Catalyst Differential Press #2 Exhaust Fuel Addition FB #2 |
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The ECM compares pressure upstream and downstream of the DPF catalyst converter to monitor the differential pressure. If the differential pressure is large, the ECM determines that the DPF catalyst converter is contaminated or has deteriorated and illuminates the MIL.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- NOTICE:
- HINT:
- Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.READ OUTPUT DTC (RECORD STORED DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA) |
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Record the stored DTC and freeze frame data.
Check Exhaust Fuel Addition FB, Exhaust Fuel Addition FB #2, Catalyst Differential Press and Catalyst Differential Press #2 in the freeze frame data.
- HINT:
NEXT | |
2.CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P244B OR P2465) |
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Read the DTCs.
Result | Proceed to |
P244B or P2465 is output | A |
P244B or P2465 is output at the same time as P2463* | |
Other relevant DTCs are output | B |
- HINT:
- *: When P244B or P2465 is output at the same time as P2463, perform this diagnostic procedure. When DTC P244B or P2465 is not output at the same time as P2463 is output, perform the diagnostic procedure for P244C or P244E ().
|
| ||||
A | |
3.READ VALUE USING GTS (DPF DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE) |
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Start the engine and turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Engine and ECT / Data List / DPF Differential Pressure and DPF Differential Pressure #2.
Check the DPF Differential Pressure and DPF Differential Pressure #2 values from idle speed to unloaded maximum engine speed.
Result | Proceed to |
DPF Differential Pressure and DPF Differential Pressure #2 increase as engine speed increases from idle speed | A |
Except above | B |
- HINT:
- If DPF Differential Pressure and DPF Differential Pressure #2 indicate negative pressure for approx. 1 second as shown in the illustration (A) when the engine speed increases, the differential pressure sensor piping of the DPF catalyst may be clogged.
|
| ||||
B | |
4.CLEAN OR REPLACE VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE |
Even though it has been determined that the vacuum transmitting hose needs to be repaired or cleaned, make sure to perform all diagnostic procedures for DTC P244B or P2465 before repairing or cleaning it.
|
| ||||
5.CHECK FOR BLACK SMOKE |
Start the engine and drive the vehicle until the engine coolant temperature reaches 60°C (140°F) or higher.
Stop the vehicle and allow the engine to idle.
Fully depress the accelerator pedal for 5 seconds, and then release it [A].
Repeat the above procedure [A] 10 times [B].
Check for black smoke emission during procedures [A] and [B].
- OK:
- Black smoke is emitted less than 5 times.
- HINT:
- Even if the black smoke is very thin, count the number of black smoke emissions if there is any visible smoke.
|
| ||||
OK | |
6.PERFORM PM FORCED REGENERATION |
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs ().
Start the engine.
Enter the following menus: Engine and ECT / Data List / Coolant Temp.
Warm up the engine (engine coolant temperature is 70°C (158°F) or higher).
Perform PM forced regeneration ().
Turn the ignition switch off.
NEXT | |
7.READ VALUE USING GTS (CATALYST DIFFERENTIAL PRESS) |
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Start the engine and turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Catalyst Differential Press and Catalyst Differential Press #2.
Check the value of Catalyst Differential Press and Catalyst Differential Press #2 at 4000 rpm without load.
Result | Proceed to |
Catalyst Differential Press or Catalyst Differential Press #2 is more than 0.45 | A |
Except above | B |
|
| ||||
B | ||
|
8.REPLACE EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (DPF CATALYST CONVERTER) |
Even though it has been determined that the DPF catalyst converter needs to be replaced, make sure to perform all diagnostic procedures for DTC P244B or P2465 before replacing it.
|
| ||||
9.GO TO DTC CHART |
Perform inspection and repair of relevant DTCs ().
NEXT | |
10.CHECK FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM |
Check the fuel injection system ().
NEXT | |
11.CHECK INTAKE / EXHAUST SYSTEM |
Check the intake/exhaust system ().
NEXT | |
12.CHECK AFTER TREATMENT CONTROL SYSTEM |
Check the after treatment control system ().
NEXT | |
13.REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS |
- HINT:
When DTC P244B is output:
When DTC P2465 is output:
NEXT | |
14.CATALYST RECORD CLEAR |
Perform the catalyst record clear ().
NEXT | |
15.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED |
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs ().
Perform PM forced regeneration ().
