DTC P2226 Barometric Pressure Circuit

DTC P2228 Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input

DTC P2229 Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input

DESCRIPTION

To detect atmospheric pressure, the built-in atmospheric pressure sensor in the ECM is used for the common rail system. Following the changes in the atmospheric pressure, the ECM corrects the injection volume, timing and duration, and adjusts the common rail internal fuel pressure in order to optimize engine combustion.

  • HINT:
When the ignition switch is ON, the intake air pipe pressure is approximately equal to atmospheric pressure.
Under standard atmospheric pressure conditions, the output of the atmospheric pressure sensor is 101 kPa. For every 100 m increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa. Varies by weather (high atmospheric pressure, low atmospheric pressure).
If DTC P2226, P2228 and/or P2229 is stored, the following symptoms may appear:
Misfire
Combustion noise
Black smoke
White smoke

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

  • NOTICE:
  • After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration () and initialization ().
  • HINT:
  • Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2226, P2228 OR P2229)

Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / DTC.

Read the DTCs.

3.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

Clear the DTCs ().

Turn the ignition switch off.

Turn the ignition switch off and leave the vehicle for 15 seconds.

Turn the ignition switch to ON for 1 second.

Confirm that the DTC is not output again.

  • HINT:
  • Perform the following procedure using the tester to determine whether or not the DTC judgment has been carried out.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.

Input DTC P2226, P2228 and/or P2229.

Check that STATUS is NORMAL. If STATUS is INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN, idle the engine.
