DTC P0069 MAP Sensor Too High or Too Low

DESCRIPTION

To detect atmospheric pressure, the atmospheric pressure sensor built into the ECM is used in the common rail system. Following the changes in the atmospheric pressure, the ECM corrects the fuel injection volume, timing and duration, and adjusts the common rail internal fuel pressure to optimize combustion.

1 second elapses after engine switch turned from off to on (IG) (starter remains off)After the engine switch is turned on (IG), the difference between the atmospheric pressure sensor output and manifold absolute pressure sensor output is more than 8 kPa for 0.5 seconds (2 trip detection logic).ECM

  • HINT:
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and check the Atmosphere Pressure and MAP items in the Data List. If the atmospheric pressure displayed on the GTS differs greatly from the actual atmospheric pressure (standard: 101 kPa), the sensor (atmospheric pressure sensor or manifold absolute pressure sensor) is malfunctioning.
If DTC P0069 is stored, the following symptoms may appear:
Misfire
Combustion noise
Black smoke
White smoke
Lack of power

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

  • NOTICE:
After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration () and initialization ().
After replacing the fuel supply pump assembly, the ECM needs initialization ().
After replacing an injector assembly, the ECM needs registration ().
  • HINT:
Although the DTC titles say Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Too High or Too Low, these DTCs relate to the atmospheric pressure sensor.
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0069)

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

Enter the following menus: Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

Read the DTCs.

2.INSPECT MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR
  • HINT:
  • Before inspecting the manifold absolute pressure sensor, perform a wire harness inspection and if there are any problems with the wire harness, repair or replace it.

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

Turn the engine switch on (IG).

Turn the GTS on.

Enter the following menus: Engine and ECT / Data List / MAP.

Read the value.

  • OK:
  • Same value as the actual atmospheric pressure.

REPLACE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR ()
OK
3.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

Turn the engine switch on (IG).

Turn the GTS on.

Clear the DTC ().

Turn the engine switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

Turn the engine switch on (IG) for 1 second.

Enter the following menus: Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
