Front Brake Disassembly


  1. REMOVE CYLINDER BOOT

  2. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PISTON

  3. REMOVE PISTON SEAL

  4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG

  5. REMOVE FRONT DISC

Front Brake -- Disassembly


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
  2. The procedures listed below are for the LH side.


1. REMOVE CYLINDER BOOT

  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the 4 boots from the cylinder.

    NOTICE:
    Be careful not to damage the cylinder and piston.


2. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PISTON

  1. Prepare a wooden plate to hold the pistons.



    Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50
  1. Place the wooden plate between the pistons and insert a pad on one side.

  1. Use compressed air to remove the pistons alternately from the cylinder.

    CAUTION:
    Do not place your finger in front of the piston when using compressed air.
    NOTICE:
    Be careful not to spatter the brake fluid.


3. REMOVE PISTON SEAL

  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the 4 seals from the cylinder.

    NOTICE:
    Be careful not to damage the inner cylinder and cylinder groove.


4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG
  1. Remove the bleeder plug cap and bleeder plug from the cylinder.



5. REMOVE FRONT DISC

  1. Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.

  1. Remove the disc.
