Rear Coil Spring Removal


  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  2. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE

  3. REMOVE TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY

  4. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

  5. DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE TUBE FLEXIBLE HOSE

  6. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

  7. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING

Rear Coil Spring -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
  2. The procedures listed below are for the LH side.


1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL


2. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE


3. REMOVE TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY
  1. Remove the tailpipe for 1KD-FTV (Toyota Fortuner RM000001213005X.html).

  1. Remove the tailpipe for 1GR-FE (Toyota Fortuner RM000001217003X.html).



4. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY
  1. Disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable (Toyota Fortuner RM000001HKF001X_01_0010.html).



5. DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE TUBE FLEXIBLE HOSE

  1. Using SST, disconnect the brake line from the flexible hose.

    SST
    09023-00101
  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the clip.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  1. Remove the flexible hose from the 3 way joint.



6. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

  1. Support the axle housing.

    1. Jack up and support the vehicle's frame on stands.

    2. Lower the axle housing until the coil spring tension is free, and maintain this position.

  1. Remove the nut and 2 retainers.



    Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50
  1. Remove the 2 bolts.

  1. Disconnect the shock absorber and 2 bushes from the axle housing and frame.

  1. Remove the lock nut, bracket, 3 retainers and 2 cushions.



7. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING
  1. Slowly lower the rear axle housing.

    NOTICE:
    Be careful not to snap the brake line or parking brake cable.
  1. While lowering the axle housing, remove the coil spring and insulator.
