Rear Door Speaker Removal


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE DOOR PULL HANDLE

  3. REMOVE REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH REAR DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL

  4. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  5. REMOVE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

Rear Door Speaker -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
  2. The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Toyota Fortuner RM000004W63000X.html).


2. REMOVE DOOR PULL HANDLE

  1. Remove the screw and door pull handle.



3. REMOVE REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH REAR DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL

  1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 clips and 2 claws.

  1. Disconnect the connector and remove the rear power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest base panel.



4. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Remove the screw.

  1. Detach the 10 clips and remove the rear door trim board.



5. REMOVE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the connector.

  1. Put a 5 mm (0.197 in.) drill bit into a drill.

  1. Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 4 mm (0.157 in.) from the tip of the drill as shown in the illustration.

    NOTICE:
    Tape the 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going to deep.

  1. Lightly press the drill against the 3 rivets, drill off the flanges of the 3 rivets and remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.

    CAUTION:
    Be careful of the drilled rivet as it may become hot.
    NOTICE:
    1. Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.
    2. Do not pry the rivet with the drill because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.
  1. Continue drilling and push out the remaining rivet fragments.

  1. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the inside of the door.
