Starter Relay On-Vehicle Inspection
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE STARTER RELAY (Marking: ST)
INSPECT STARTER RELAY
INSTALL STARTER RELAY
CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE STARTER RELAY (Marking: ST) |
Remove the engine room relay block cover.
Remove the starter relay from the engine room relay block.
Measure the resistance of the starter relay.
- Standard resistance:
Tester Connection
| Specified Condition

3 - 5
| 10 kΩ or higher
|
3 - 5
| Below 1 Ω (when battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2)
|
If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
