Vane Pump (For 1Gr-Fe) Installation


  1. INSTALL VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY

  2. CONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE ASSEMBLY

  3. CONNECT OIL RESERVOIR TO PUMP HOSE

  4. INSTALL FAN & GENERATOR V BELT

  5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  6. ADD POWER STEERING FLUID

  7. BLEED AIR FROM POWER STEERING SYSTEM

  8. CHECK FOR POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKAGE

Vane Pump (For 1Gr-Fe) -- Installation



1. INSTALL VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the vane pump with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    21 N*m{214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf}

  1. Install the wire harness clamp bracket with the bolt.

    Torque:
    8.0 N*m{82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf}
  1. Connect the oil pressure switch connector.

    NOTICE:
    Make sure that no oil adheres to the connector.


2. CONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE ASSEMBLY

  1. Install a new gasket onto the pressure feed tube.

  1. Install the pressure feed tube with the union bolt.

    Torque:
    49 N*m{500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf}


3. CONNECT OIL RESERVOIR TO PUMP HOSE

  1. Connect the hose with the clip.



4. INSTALL FAN & GENERATOR V BELT

  1. While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, align its holes, and then insert a pin of φ6 mm (0.24 in.) into the holes to fix the belt tensioner.



  1. Install the V-ribbed belt.

    HINT:
    Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50.Power Steering.Vane Pump (For 1Gr-Fe).Vane Pump (For 1Gr-Fe)  Installation
    If it is hard to install the V-ribbed belt, perform the following procedure.

    1. Put the V-ribbed belt on everything except the PS pump as shown in the illustration.

    2. While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, put the V-ribbed belt on the PS pump.

  1. While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the pin.



5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL


6. ADD POWER STEERING FLUID


7. BLEED AIR FROM POWER STEERING SYSTEM
  1. Check the fluid level.

  1. Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with stands.

  1. Turn the steering wheel.

    1. With the engine stopped, turn the steering wheel slowly from lock to lock several times.

  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Start the engine. Run the engine at idle for a few minutes.

  1. Turn the steering wheel.

    1. With the engine idling, turn the steering wheel to the left or right full lock position and hold it there for 2 to 3 seconds. Then turn the steering wheel to the opposite full lock position and hold it there for 2 to 3 seconds.

    2. Repeat the step above several times.

  1. Stop the engine.

  1. Check for foaming or emulsification. If the system has to be bled twice because of foaming or emulsification, check for fluid leaks in the system.

  1. Check the fluid level.



8. CHECK FOR POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKAGE
