Front Axle Hub Installation

Using a brass bar and hammer, tap in the plug.

Using a brass bar and hammer, tap in a new oil seal.

NOTICE:

Do not damage the spacer.

Using SST and a press, press a new bearing into the axle hub.

w/ ABS:
Install the ABS speed sensor rotor and spacer to the axle hub.

w/o ABS:
Install the 2 spacers to the axle hub.

Using SST and a press, press a new bearing into the axle hub.

Install the ABS speed sensor rotor to the axle hub.

Using SST, install a new adjusting nut.

Torque:

274 N*m{2,794 kgf*cm, 202 ft.*lbf}

Apply MP grease to a new O-ring.

Install the O-ring to the axle hub.

Install the dust cover and axle hub to the steering knuckle with the 4 bolts.

Torque:

80 N*m{816 kgf*cm, 59 ft.*lbf}

Install the hub nut.

Torque:

235 N*m{2,396 kgf*cm, 173 ft.*lbf}

Install the lock cap and a new cotter pin.

NOTICE:

If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut an additional 60°.

Install a new grease cap to the axle hub.

Install the disc brake cylinder with the 2 bolts.

Torque:

123 N*m{1,254 kgf*cm, 91 ft.*lbf}

Connect the brake tube bracket to the steering knuckle with the bolt.

Torque:

29 N*m{296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf}

Using SST, connect the brake tube to the disc brake cylinder.

Torque:

15 N*m{155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf}for use without SST

14 N*m{143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf}for use with SST

HINT:

Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.81 in.).

Install the speed sensor with the bolt.

Torque:

8.5 N*m{87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf}

Connect the 2 clamps.

Connect the speed sensor wire harness to the steering knuckle with the bolt.

Torque:

32 N*m{326 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf}

Check the ABS speed sensor signal (Toyota Fortuner RM00000102M00BX.html).
