Mass Air Flow Meter (For Hatchback) -- On-Vehicle Inspection


NOTICE:
  1. Perform the mass air flow meter inspection according to the procedures below.
  2. Only replace the mass air flow meter when the MAF value in the Data List (with the engine stopped) is not within the normal operating range or there is foreign matter on the mass air flow meter platinum hot wire (heater).
HINT:
Perform "Inspection After Repairs" after replacing the mass air flow meter (YARIS_NCP93 RM000004NJD006X.html).


1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER
  1. Read the value using the Techstream (MAF).

    NOTICE:
    1. Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface.
    2. Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter while it is installed to the air cleaner case (installed in the vehicle).
    3. During the test, make sure that the exhaust air duct is not drawing air from the exhaust pipe.

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (do not run the engine).

    3. Turn the Techstream on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAF.

    5. Wait 30 for seconds, and read the values on the Techstream.

      Standard:
      Tester Display

      Standard Condition
      MAF
      1. Engine not running
      2. 30 seconds after ignition switch is turned to ON
      0.20 gm/sec or less
      If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter.
      If the result is within the specified range, inspect the mass air flow meter (YARIS_NCP93 RM000003VJA00FX.html).
