DTC C1436 Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) receives signals from the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor) via the CAN communication system. The yaw rate and deceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor) has a built-in deceleration sensor and detects the vehicle's condition using 2 circuits (GL1, GL2). If there is trouble in the bus lines between the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor) and the CAN communication system, the DTCs U0123 (Lost Communication with Yaw Rate Sensor Module) and U0124 (Lost Communication with Lateral Acceleration Sensor Module) are output. These DTCs are also output when calibration has not been completed.DTC No.
| DTC Detection Condition
| Trouble Area
|
C1436
| Either of the following is detected:
- With the vehicle stationary, the yaw rate and deceleration sensor output value is not 0 deg/s.
- Abnormal comparison value.
| Yaw rate and deceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor)

Refer to DTCs C1232, C1243 and C1245 (YARIS_NCP93 RM000001RFV0BZX.html).
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- NOTICE:
- When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000XHR07EX.html).
- Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
- HINT:
- When DTC U0123, U0124 and/or U0126 is output together with DTC C1436, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by DTC U0123, U0124 and/or U0126 first (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000YUO0FEX.html).
1.READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (YAW RATE SENSOR) |
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.
According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

- NOTICE:
- Check the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor) signal after replacement (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000XHT09FX.html).
- HINT:
- If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000XHN0C2X.html).
2.CHECK YAW RATE AND DECELERATION SENSOR (YAW RATE SENSOR) INSTALLATION |
Turn the ignition switch off.
Check that the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor) has been installed properly (YARIS_NCP93 RM000002RGP00FX.html).
- OK:
- The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
- The sensor should not be installed in a tilted position.
