DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns off when the engine hood is opened and turns on when the engine hood is closed.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Turn the Techstream on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

  1. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

    Main Body
    Tester Display
    		Measurement Item/Range
    		Normal Condition
    		Diagnostic Note
    Hood Courtesy Switch
    		Engine hood courtesy switch / OFF or ON
    		OFF: Engine hood open
    ON: Engine hood closed
    		-
    OK:
    The indicator on the Techstream switches between ON and OFF in accordance with the engine hood courtesy switch status.

REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (YARIS_NCP93 RM000003TOE00CX.html)

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY) - BODY GROUND)

  1. Disconnect the A63 engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A63-1 (E) - Body ground
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

3.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY) - MAIN BODY ECU)

  1. Disconnect the D144 main body ECU connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A63-2 (+) - D144-5 (HCTY)
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω
    A63-2 (+) - Body ground
    		Always
    		10 kΩ or higher
