  1. REMOVE CENTER COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER

  2. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID

  3. BLEED CLUTCH LINE

  4. INSPECT FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAK

  5. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL

  6. INSTALL CENTER COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER

Clutch System (For Hatchback) -- Bleeding


NOTICE:
Wash off clutch fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.
HINT:
  1. If any work is performed on the clutch system or if air in the clutch lines is suspected, bleed air from the clutch hydraulic system.
  2. In case of clutch fluid replacement, make sure that the old fluid is replaced in the clutch line between the reservoir and the bleeder before bleeding.


1. REMOVE CENTER COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER

  1. Disengage the 2 clips and slide the hood to cowl top seal as shown in the illustration.

  1. Disengage the 2 claws and separate the washer hose joint.

    NOTICE:
    To prevent washer fluid from contaminating the brake master cylinder reservoir, do not separate the washer hose.
  1. Disengage the 2 claws and 6 guides remove the cowl top ventilator louver center.



2. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID

  1. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid.

    Fluid:
    SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT3
    NOTICE:
    Add brake fluid to keep the level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir while bleeding the brakes.


3. BLEED CLUTCH LINE
HINT:
In case of clutch fluid replacement, make sure that the old fluid is replaced in the clutch line between the reservoir and the bleeder before bleeding.

  1. Remove the release cylinder bleeder plug cap.

  1. Connect a vinyl tube to the release cylinder bleeder plug.

  1. Depress the clutch pedal 5 times, and then loosen the release cylinder bleeder plug while the pedal is depressed.

  1. When fluid no longer comes out, tighten the release cylinder bleeder plug, and then release the clutch pedal.

  1. Repeat both of the previous 2 steps 6 times.

  1. Tighten the release cylinder bleeder plug.

    Torque:
    8.3 N*m{85 kgf*cm, 73 in.*lbf}
  1. Depress the clutch pedal 10 times or more and confirm its operation.

    NOTICE:
    This must be performed before the engine is started.
  1. Install the release cylinder bleeder plug cap.

  1. Check that all the air has been bled from the clutch line.



4. INSPECT FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAK


5. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL

  1. Check the fluid level.

    If brake fluid level is lower than the MIN line, check for leaks and inspect the disc brake pads. If necessary, refill the reservoir with brake fluid to the MAX line after repair or replacement.

6. INSTALL CENTER COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER

  1. Engage the 2 claws and 6 guides and install the cowl top ventilator louver center.

  1. Engage the 2 claws and install the washer hose joint.

  1. Engage the 2 clips and slide the hood to cowl top seal as shown in the illustration.
