  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  3. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY LH AND RH

Shift Paddle Switch -- Removal


CAUTION:

1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD


2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the ignition switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately a minute to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait a minute or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.


3. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  1. Remove the steering pad (RAV4_ACA30 RM000001DNP00SX.html).



4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

  1. Remove the nut and place matchmarks on the steering wheel and steering column.

  1. Using SST, remove the steering wheel.

    SST
    09950-50013(09951-05010,09952-05010,09953-05020,09954-05021)
    NOTICE:
    Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (center bolt) before use.


5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

  1. Remove the nut and place matchmarks on the steering wheel and steering column.

  1. Using SST, remove the steering wheel.

    09950-50013(09951-05010,09952-05010,09953-05020,09954-05021)
    NOTICE:
    Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (center bolt) before use.


6. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the transmission shift switch connector and detach the steering pad switch harness connector from the lower steering boss cover.

  1. w/ Bluetooth:
    Remove the 2 screws, detach the 2 pins and remove the 2 steering pad switches.

  1. w/o Bluetooth:
    Remove the 2 screws, detach the 2 pins and remove the steering pad switch and steering wheel ornament.



7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY LH AND RH

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Detach the switch wire from the grooves of the lower steering boss cover and remove the LH and RH transmission shift switches together with the No. 1 switch wire.

  1. Cut the 2 cable ties, disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 1 switch wire from the LH and RH transmission switches.
