INSPECTION PROCEDURE

REPLACE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE VALVE LIFT CONTROLLER ASSEMBLY

DTC P2649 "A" Rocker Arm Actuator Control Circuit High Bank 1


DESCRIPTION

The current flowing to the actuator in the continuously variable valve lift controller assembly is monitored by the current sensor in the continuously variable valve lift controller assembly. When the continuously variable valve lift controller assembly detects that no current is flowing to the actuator even though the actuator is commanded to operate or the current flowing to the actuator is more than the amount requested, a DTC is stored and the MIL illuminates.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE


NOTICE:
When one of the following DTCs is stored and the MIL is illuminated, DTC P1047 is stored and actuator position learning is performed every time the engine is started. Also, after the system returns to normal, the following occurs during the first driving cycle: 1) DTC P1047 is stored, 2) actuator position learning is performed and 3) the MIL illuminates during actuator position learning.

Actuator position learning is performed when these DTCs are stored.

HINT:
  1. If DTC P1046, P1047 or P1055 is output at the same time as DTC P2648 or P2649, disregard DTCs P1046, P1047 and P1055 and proceed with the inspection.
  2. After performing repairs, perform the following procedures and check that DTCs are not output again.
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
  2. Start the engine and warm it up.
  3. Turn the tester on.
  4. Clear the DTCs (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000PDK0M7X.html).
  5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait 10 seconds.
  6. Start the engine and idle it for 20 seconds.
  7. Clear the DTCs (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000PDK0M7X.html).
  8. Turn the ignition switch off and wait 10 seconds.
  9. Start the engine and idle it for 20 seconds.
  10. Turn the ignition switch off and wait 10 seconds.
  11. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  12. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.
  13. Read the DTCs.

  1. Replace the continuously variable valve lift controller assembly (RAV4_ACA30 RM0000036Y4008X.html).
