Brake Actuator (W/O Vsc) -- On-Vehicle Inspection |
1. CONNECT INTELLIGENT TESTER |
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Start the engine and idle it.
Select the Active Test mode on the intelligent tester.
- HINT:
- Please refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.
2. CHECK ACTUATOR MOTOR OPERATION |
- NOTICE:
- Do not keep a motor relay on for more than 5 seconds. When operating it consecutively, wait 20 seconds between each operation.
Turn the motor relay on and check the actuator motor operation noise.
If the operation noise cannot be heard, replace the actuator because the motor operation is defective.
Turn the motor relay off.
3. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Front Right Wheel) |
- NOTICE:
- Do not keep a motor relay on for more than 5 seconds. When operating it consecutively, wait 20 seconds between each operation.
- Do not keep a solenoid on for more than 2 seconds. When operating it consecutively, wait 20 seconds between each operation.
- Never depress the brake pedal when only the reduction solenoid is turned on as the ABS ECU will be reset.
Depress the brake pedal and hold it for about 15 seconds, and check that the brake pedal does not go down further.
If the brake pedal goes down, replace the actuator because the sealing condition of the reduction solenoid valve is abnormal.
Check that the brake pedal does not pulsate when the motor relay is turned on by the intelligent tester.
If the brake pedal pulsates, replace the actuator because the sealing condition of the reduction solenoid valve is abnormal.
Turn the motor relay off.
Depress the brake pedal and hold it.
Check that the brake pedal does not go down further when the SFRH and SFRR solenoids are turned on by the intelligent tester.
If the brake pedal goes down, replace the actuator because the holding solenoid valve operation is abnormal.- HINT:
- To protect the solenoids, the intelligent tester turns off automatically 2 seconds after one of the solenoids has been turned on.
Check that the brake pedal goes down further when the solenoids are turned off.
If the brake pedal does not go down, replace the actuator because the reduction solenoid valve operation is abnormal.
Check that the brake pedal returns when the motor relay is turned on by the intelligent tester.
If the brake pedal does not return, replace the actuator because the motor operation is defective.
Turn the motor relay off and release the brake pedal.
4. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Front Left Wheel) |
Use the same procedures described for the front right wheel to check the solenoids of the front left wheel.
- HINT:
- Front left wheel: SFLH, SFLR
5. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Rear Right Wheel) |
Use the same procedures described for the front right wheel to check the solenoids of the rear right wheel.
- HINT:
- Rear right wheel: SRRH, SRRR
6. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Rear Left Wheel) |
Use the same procedures described for the front right wheel to check the solenoids of the rear left wheel.
- HINT:
- Rear left wheel: SRLH, SRLR
7. CHECK AND CLEAR DTC |
Check and clear the DTC (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000ONJ026X.html).
